The Basic Information
This is the information you need to know before brainstorming your character, in point form:
1 / All Characters Start off as Kits
-
During launch, all characters will start off as kits. This is to encourage in-RP interactions.
-
In certain events, adult/adolescent characters can be made.
2 / All Character Designs will be Rolled
-
You choose two player designs. Their genetics (markings and colours) will be randomized and you will get multiple design options for your character.
-
You will choose which one you want to work with.
-
These player characters are solely used for their designs; they do not need to be related to your character in RP.
3 / Gain New Characters through Monthly Rolls
-
Every month, you can get something called a monthly roll, which allows you to create a new character.
-
You can get an extra roll if you purchase it through our shop for a certain amount of starbits
Character Process
Below is the process you will have to go through to have your character approved. This is split into two parts:
DESIGN
01.
The characters do not need to have any kind of relation to your character in RP, they are just used for their marking/colour genes. For first characters or special character events, you can choose the markings you wish to roll for.
Choose your parent designs / Choose your markings
02.
A private channel will be made with you and staff. A staff member will roll for the markings you provided, and give you the roll results.
03.
When the staff member gives you the roll results, they will give you multiple kit options to choose from. You only get to choose one kit to design. Be sure to screenshot the one you choose for later.
04.
Even after choosing a kit, please do not close the ticket, as you will have to show the final product for approval. Once your design is approved, you're ready to go!
STORY
05.
Create a Story Ticket & Tell us about your character
This is a separate ticket that you must make before your character is approved. This would include their recently rolled genetics from your design ticket, along with their story (written backstory, personality, potential disabilities, etc).
Adult characters must reveal all past and future planned information about them to admins.
06.
Gain approval!
Once you have completed all steps above and have an approved story ticket, your character is approved! Enjoy roleplaying :)
Create a Design/Marking Ticket
Select one of the kits tickets to design!
Submit your finished design for approval!
Designing
All EITM characters are required to be on our official base to be accepted.
It should be noted that our markings site should be your main source when designing. This is only a brief outlining guide to help break down the system for newcomers.
If you have any questions, reach out to us in #server-help.
There are three things you should be aware about when designing:
1. BASE
Base and its pre-made traits can be found & viewed here
Please note that the base has multiple layers. While it works on the majority of art programs, others, such as Procreate, may experience lag. The PSD file does not work on mobile programs, like Ibis Paint X.
You are allowed to make edits to the base or draw your own traits but, you are not allowed to trace the base. We will ask you to change your design if we suspect you have traced the base.
If you can not draw your character on the base (for any reason), here are two solutions:
-
Ask someone else to design them: Illustrate your vision in #design-help and ask if anyone would be willing to make your character on base.
-
Ask for a PNG of the base: Specify what traits to add/omit and what background you need in #design-help. A member will create a PNG file without the coloured layers so you can import it into your drawing program.
2. COLOURS
There are 24 colours you can use. Learn more about how our colours work here
You can choose two main colours, which are called primary and secondary. Pick from any point in the gradient.
-
Primary Colours: Main base coat colour
-
Secondary Colours: Colours affecting only markings
3. MARKINGS
Each marking has their own descriptions and examples. Please view Free Markings or Rolled Markings to learn more
This is the difference between rolled and free:
-
Rolled Markings: Limited, breed-only markings. They can only be obtained through randomization.
-
Free Markings: Markings that can be freely used by the designer to give uniqueness to a character.
Story
Most characters may have a backstory, or elements that need to be said before your character is approved.
During Character Creation:

Answer
Unique Backstory
Disabilities
Scars
Accessories
Siblings with other playable characters
Family (with NPC [non-playable characters])
1. EITM allows cats to have mixed or unique origins but only under approval. This is to make sure that the majority of cats are still Clan-born.
2. If approved, you must agree that it will have significance in RP. Other characters may treat your character differently in plots or in relationships because of your origins. Unique backgrounds must hold weight.
1. Physical and mental disabilities are allowed, but we require these roles to be played respectfully. Users must have an informed understanding of the disability that they are roleplaying.
2. Playing into harmful stereotypes of any disability is strictly prohibited and result in the characters being removed and the player being warned. Repeated actions without any effort for improvement will result in a ban from the server
1. At any point, scars can be added to a character.
2. Major/large scars must be approved with an RP or lore reasoning behind them.
3. In role-play, scars will only ever happen with a players' consent.
1. Accessories, whether made from nature materials (leaves, twigs, flowers, feathers) are allowed **(feathers behind ears are prohibited)**
2. Unusual accessories (ex. two-leg accessories or large "cat-made" accessories) need approval and logical lore reasoning.
1. Users can plan for their characters to be siblings in advance. This must be stated via ticket.
2. With two NEW launch characters, the designs and stories must be submitted at the same time. If one of your monthly rolls does not permit this, you can either buy a preroll from Mapleflight's shop OR utilize your monthly roll and hold onto the design until you can submit both characters together.
1. NPC's are used in EITM as a way to flesh out character stories. They can be used for immediate family, or for relations that specifically help to enhance a PC's (playable character) story.
2. NPCs must only play small parts in a PC's story (ex. a friend they see at the barn, a character from an outsiders past). These cats should not have full lore and backstories and ONLY used to enhance the player character.

Answer
Romantic Relationships
Interactions or connections with Outsiders/Starclan/The Dark Forest
A death that lets them go into Starclan/The Dark Forest?
Code Breaks/Code Bends
Be in Starclan/The Dark Forest when they die?
1. Normal romantic relationships can be done, we just ask that their age gaps are not drastic (ex. ~20 moons apart).
2. Apprentices are not allowed to be in relationships with warriors, and vice versa.
3. Forbidden relationships require approval and roleplay evidence and reasoning. Characters will receive RP consequences if caught, such as exile - do not apply if you are not prepared for this risk.
1. Yes, depending on the reasoning Eitm allows cats to have Physical or Mental Disabilities, however we require these roles to be played respectfully and we expect players to have done much research in order to play this role. Playing into harmful stereotypes of any disability is strictly prohibited and result in the characters being removed and the player being warned. Repeated actions without any effort for improvement will result in a ban from the server
Scars can be added anywhere or at any time! We just ask that big scars have a reason behind them story wise! Scars will only ever be in affect if the player wishes, however if you would like the chance to scar when your cat is hurt you can choose this option while making a Healing ticket! Just let the medicine cats know!
Code breaks and bends must be approved of before they are roleplayed out. Currently in prelaunch, we have capped in the amount of cats engaged in code breaks and this application will be kept closed until further notice.
Cats are automatically assigned to Starclan when they die, so please let a staff member know if you want them to be put in the Dark Forest instead. Cats who are in the Dark Forest or Starclan can still be used in future roleplays and do not have to be put in limbo.
